Living without essential oils is like living without oxygen. It has become a part of my daily routine and I highly recommend essential oils to my clients. Highly appreciated because of the value I recognize from family traditions from my childhood, plants and herbs were always used to heal, cure and maintain well-being. They were used by my grandmother and her mother, my great grandmother. My great grandmother used native plants and herbs to mix into concoctions and used these medicinal remedies while working for a doctor. She was employed as a mid-wife and a medical assistant. Back in the day in Puerto Rico and traditions carried on from her native Spain, it was common place to use remedies that were found in nature, basically plants that were grown in their own backyard.
My knowledge might not be as sophisticated as that of my grandmother or her mother’s, but I do understand there are proven results in using not only plants and herbs, but the concentrated oil essence. It is commonplace these days as people seek safer and healthier alternatives to use convenient products such as these.
As an interior designer, I enjoy recommending oils and have a few favorites that provide healthier outcomes than chemically created products. Oils can be applied or diffused accordingly and are a constant source of enhancement, helping with one’s quality in their environment and personal well-being. Some oils can be ingested as well, providing many uses in cooking and mixtures for tonics. Some oils are used for beautification and are considered great as anti aging alternatives. I also use oils to enhance mediation and spirituality, helping to cleanse the environment.
It was common for ancient cultures to rely on creating such products and remedies dating back as early as 4500 B.C.E. Oils are even traced to the Bible itself and were used to control germs and deadly diseases. Today, it is very commonplace and a must for every household and business to use oils. They have been proven to work throughout history.
